BINGO, PULL-TABS AND FOOD AT ITS' BEST! LAST DAY OF OPERATION AT 2820 SO 1ST STREET Was, APRIL 4, 2015 CHECK BACK FOR NEWS ...
Many of you may be anxious to know what the future holds for the Bingo Emporium. The simple truth is that our future rests on the actions of the Minnesota state legislature. For the last few years, we have been struggling against a 36% tax on pulltabs, and as a result we have ended up paying more to the state in taxes than what has gone to our charitable organization. Relocating will have expenses, and if we cannot breathe from under these taxes, such expenses may prove too risky for any charity to take. After all, we must remember that the Bingo Emporium (and charitable gambling as a whole) exists to benefit charitable organizations, not to benefit from them. Therefore, our future existence is very much tied to what happens in this legislative session. If you share our concern and wish to see the Bingo Emporium open again, please contact your representatives in the Minnesota House and Senate urging them to reduce the pull-tab taxes to 9% at bingo halls. Thank you!
It has been suggested I post information on how to find out who your representative in the house and senate are. Go to Google, type in "who represents me mn". It will bring you to MN Legislature page. Click on "district finder". Type in your full Address, City, State and Zip. Click on the name of your Representative MN House and Representative MN Senate. You can e-mail directly from their page. You can make a difference! Representatives listen to their constituents.
The powers that be don't seem to understand, not everyone wants to play bingo in a bar, not everyone should be limited to bar bingo.
